The Future

The Nature Conservancy played an early role in preserving the Forest by developing a Protection Plan for the Forest in the mid 1980s which documented the significance of the area and help to coordinate preservation activities. The Dallas County Open Space Program also played a major role in developing the Forest Preserve by acquiring three tracts of land is association with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The City of Garland's Park and Recreation Department initiated a work program for the Spring Creek Forest Master Development Plan.  Please join the Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest and help make make this a unique place to visit and learn about forests, prairies, and streams.

The map below below shows existing and proposed trails, recreational facilities, Forest Preserve boundaries, and roads.
